Enter your tasks, tick whether each one is important, urgent or both, and the matrix sorts them into Do Now, Decide, Delegate and Delete. Each task shows the days left to its due date, or the days past it once overdue, progress bars and charts show what's done, pending and overdue, and a bonus calendar lays your tasks out by month. What's inside

3-tab spreadsheet

  • Instructions: An introduction to the Eisenhower decision matrix and its four quadrants, and a guide to each tab.
  • Eisenhower Matrix: Your task list for up to 100 tasks. Enter each task with a due date and tick whether it's important, urgent or both, and it appears in its quadrant's list, Do Now, Decide, Delegate or Delete, with its days left, or days overdue. Sort the four quadrant lists by days left. Tick a task complete in the task list, and progress bars, a status chart and a breakdown by quadrant show what's done, pending and overdue. The Tasks Overview panel filters your tasks by status, quadrant or both, and the CLEAR ALL reset empties the task list when you're ready for a fresh one (desktop only).
  • Bonus Calendar View: A monthly calendar of your tasks by due date, filled from the Eisenhower Matrix tab. Choose the month, the year and whether weeks start on Sunday or Monday. Beside the calendar, Today's Top 5 Reminders lists what's due today, Upcoming Tasks lists the next three, and a month list filters that month's tasks by status. A quadrant filter narrows the calendar and all three lists to one quadrant.

How it works
  1. Open the PDF and follow the link to your template, signed in to a Google account.
  2. Make a copy to your own Google Drive, then start with the instructions on the first tab.
  3. List your tasks on the Eisenhower Matrix tab and tick important, urgent or both. The quadrant lists, charts and calendar update on their own.

Specs & limits
  • Eisenhower Matrix: each quadrant list shows up to 25 tasks, with a line counting any beyond that. The Tasks Overview panel lists every task that matches its filters.
  • Calendar View: each day shows up to 5 tasks; a day with more shows 4 and a count of the rest. The calendar shows tasks that have a due date. The month list shows up to 25 tasks.
  • By color: in Dark Mode you can rename the four quadrants on the Instructions tab, and the new names carry through the whole template.

Compatibility & access
  • Works in Google Sheets only. Not compatible with Excel.
  • You need a Google account. A regular free Google account is enough.
  • Basic knowledge of Google Sheets is needed.
  • You can open the template in the Google Sheets app or in a browser. For setup and full editing, use a desktop browser.
  • The template is in English. You can type your own content in any language.

FAQ

Can I tick tasks off inside the quadrants?

No. Tasks are marked complete in the task list on the Eisenhower Matrix tab. The quadrant lists and the calendar follow it, so that one list stays the record of what's done.

Can I clear my tasks and reuse the template?

Yes. When you're done with a list, type CLEAR ALL in the reset cell on the Eisenhower Matrix tab on desktop and confirm, and the task list empties, with the calendar following. It can't be undone, so make a copy of the file first if you want to keep your finished list.
